Video gaming in the state of Illinois celebrates its eighth year this month.
And the addition of those added video gaming taxes in that time has produced more than a half million dollars for the city of Wilmington.
Since 2012, Wilmington has awarded video gaming licenses to a total of 16 establishments with 79 terminals.
Licenses were originally permitted only to establishments that held Class A liquor licenses, but the ordinance was changed in 2017 to allow the town’s three liquors stores to serve beverages, thus making them eligible to have gaming machines.
