For Kim and Chris Earling, there’s no such thing as closure.
Every day, the Braidwood couple continues on with the regular tasks of life. But all with a heavy weight on their shoulders—dealing with the death of their daughter, Samantha Kile.
Samantha was just two weeks shy of her 23rd birthday and seven months pregnant when she overdosed on fentanyl and heroin in November 2018. Kim Earling found her daughter face down in the bathtub in their Braidwood home at 4:30 a.m. Samantha’s unborn child, a son she had planned to name Jaxsen Michael, did not survive.
