In 1958, a 15-year-old Braidwood boy took his first job, at a grocery store in the old Union Block.
Nearly 60 years later, that teenager has turned into one of the most prominent names in Braidwood, serving as a local volunteer with the Braidwood Lions Club and the Community Care Center Food Pantry, an active member of his church, a former mayor, and someone who always has a moment to stop and talk.
Last month, he was honored as Braidwood’s Businessman of the Year.
The members of the Braidwood Chamber of Commerce bestowed the honor on Wayne Saltzman on June 28.
