Two touchdowns each for Wildcats Conner Dempsay and Sam Hafner were enough to shutout the Streator Bulldogs as the Wilmington varsity football team kept their playoff hopes alive.

Wilmington racked up 354 yards of offense before a Senior Night crowd, while limiting Streator to 128 yards, 93 on the ground.

The Cat's went up 20-0 before the half thanks to a pair of interceptions and added an insurance touchdown in the fourth to win it 27-0.

The visitors threatened to score late in the game but the Wilmington defense held them off with its reserves, a plus for the 'Cats as they hope to make the playoffs with a win Friday at Plano.

If Wilmington loses the away game at Plano, they would be 5-4 with no guarantee to make the pairings.

"We don't want to be in that position to begin with," commented Wilmington coach Jeff Reents. "We intend to be 6-3 after Friday night, lock in our playoff spot, and see what happens in the draw. More know we'll probably be traveling in the first round but we're okay with that...we just have to get into the playoffs first."
