Smith signs with Judson University

Reed-Custer varsity soccer player Koby Smith has committed to Judson University.
Smith, son of Rick and Tammy Smith, will attend Judson in the fall planning to major in architecture.
“Koby was a leader for sure,” said Reed-Custer coach Andy Gleixner. “I talked a lot about him on senior night and at our banquet. When you have a player who can be a coach on the field, that is how Koby is.
“He was getting things going before the coaches were there,” Gleixner added. “He is a natural-born leader, and a hard worker. I told the college coach that he is getting a guy that will run through a wall for you. He goes full blast, and he doesn’t miss a beat.”
Smith was a two-year captain for the program. He also received the Coaches Award at the conclusion of this season.
Judson University is located in Elgin, Il. They are in the NAIA Division, and compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
Opposing schools include Olivet Nazarene University, St. Francis University and St. Xavier.
The Eagles finished their season with a conference record of 5-6-1 (6-11-2 overall), finishing in the middle of the pack for the CCAC.
“I love watching these guys continue playing soccer and getting education out of it,” added Gleixner. “We teach life lessons, and we want to incorporate that in the game. Koby is one of those kids that will do that. I am just happy he gets to continue playing soccer.”
