Lady Panthers come out swinging

    The Reed-Custer Middle School “A” softball team has tasted victory, and now defeat, after suffering their first loss of the season Monday to Minooka.
    The 10-0 game lasted just six innings, as the opposition was able to pile on nine runs between the fifth and sixth frames, adding to their single run in the third.
    Halie LaGrange went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Mya Beard also added a hit, but the Lady Panthers were unable to push across any runs.
    Grace Moyer hurled five innings from the circle, letting up five runs (two earned) off four hits.
    Halie LaGrange pitched the final innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) off four hits. She walked three and struck out one.

Bradley 7

    The Lady Panthers picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, as they downed Bradley in an offensive battle.
    Both teams registered double-digit hits in the game, with Reed-Custer taking full advantage by scoring seven runs between the first three innings.
    The Panthers continued to dominate down the stretch, adding two in the fourth, two in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
    Abby Sunday and LaGrange paved the way by going 3-for-5 on the day. Sunday added two RBIs.
    Sylvia Crater and Moyer both chipped in with one extra base hit each, both scoring three runs.
    Olivia Smith also had one extra base hit, adding two RBIs and two runs scored.
    Moyers pitched for the win, as she lasted all seven innings in the circle. She allowed seven runs (three earned) off 12 hits, walked two and struck out seven.
