Lady Coalers look to rebound after sputtering for starters

    The Coal City varsity volleyball team has had a rough start, dropping their second game of the season on Thursday to Morris.
    The Lady Coaler fought hard throughout the match, but wound up losing in three games. They won the second game, 26-24, but lost the first and third, 25-22, 25-21, respectively.
    Katelyn Sisk earned seven kills on 20 attempts, and had one service ace, while Blaire Harseim added three kills with two aces.
    Megan Norris and MaKenna Crater both chipped in with one kill a piece.
    Defensively, Sisk secured a solo block, and Ali Brancato led with 17 digs. Harseim followed with 10 digs on the night.
    Brooke Chapman led in setting assists with nine, as she also added one service ace.
    The Lady Coalers were able to rebound from their two losses on the week, as they traveled to the Ottawa Invitational this past weekend, securing a third place.

    The Lady Coalers wound up losing their season opener on Tuesday, as they fell to Prairie Central in two games.
    Coal City kept the games within striking distance, but just couldn’t close them out against their opponent.
    Brooke Chapman had seven hitting attempts with two kills and one error on the night, and also added 32 setting attempts with three assists.
    Ali Brancato led the team on defense with 10 digs for the Lady Coalers, while Chapman chipped in with seven.
    The Coal City junior varsity volleyball team wound up with the lone win of the night, as they defeated Prairie Central in three games.
    They won the first and third games, 25-22 and 16-14, respectively.
    On the freshman side, the Lady Coalers wound up losing in two games, falling to Prairie Central, 25-13, 25-20.
