Disc golf club to hold local tournament

    The Southland Rivals Disc Golf Club has big plans heading into the summer season with the 2017 Southland Open.
    After constructing new concrete tee boxes at the Wesley Township park, the club will be hosting their first ever tournament on June 10 and will include two different disc golf courses.
    The tournament will start on that Saturday at Rivals Lookout Disc Golf Course, with sign in being held from 8-9 a.m.
    A player meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m., and the rounds immediately follow.
    The tournament will have five divisions including: Open, advanced/intermediate, recreational/novice, women and juniors.
    Two rounds being held at the Rivals Park and then after an one-hour break, the final two rounds will be  played at the Old Smokey course in Braidwood.
    Winners will receive an 80 percent payout for all divisons. There will also be food and drink available.
    Entry for the tournament will be $25 for each division, and there will also be a $5 optional charge for CTP/Ace.  
    The first 50 competitors who register will also receive a tournament stamped disc.
