Coaler season ends

The Coal City baseball team threatened with two base runners their last turn at-bat but couldn't bring them home, losing the Super Sectional 6-5 to St. Ignatius and their chance to play in the Class 3A state finals.

The Coalers were ahead 5-1 after three innings, but the Wolfpack scored five runs in the fourth to take the lead and spoil things for the guys in Green.

In the end it was a tough blow for a team that won the state champions as 8th graders and tied a school record for most wins with a 34-6 season.

Thanks Coalers for the fun ride, see back here in 2019.
