Coal City earns All-Conference honors in North Division

    Coal City’s softball and baseball programs came up big in the All-Conference selections this year, as both head coaches were named coaches of the year, and 10 players overall were selected in the North Division.
    Lady Coaler softball coach Stephanie Harmon wound up with Coaches of the Year honor, while Jerry McDowell was selected in baseball.
    For the softball team, senior second baseman Leah Campos, senior centerfielder Cali Caruso and senior catcher Abbey Spesia were given All-Conference honors.
    Along with the three seniors, junior pitcher Leslie Youskevtch and freshman third baseman Madison Emerson were also chosen.
    In baseball, Coal City has All-Conference outfielder Zack Nolan as well as outfielder, pitcher and first baseman Jake Brnca, both seniors.
    Two juniors were also selected, including pitcher and shortstop Blake Harseim and outfielder/third baseman Austin Friddle.
    Pitcher Payton Hutchings was the final Coaler to be honored with All-Conference, the only freshman to make the cut.
