Christian advances to state finals

    Reed-Custer’s Jaden Christian will advance to the state finals on Saturday, as she qualified in both, long jump and triple jump.
    Christian started off the preliminary round in long jump, where she earned a distance of 18’ .5”, finishing with the fourth-best distance on the day.
    Erika Furbeck from Geneseo wound up with the best jump, 19’ 3.5”.
    Twelve girls qualified form the three flights, which consisted of 24 competitors.
    Christian also qualified in triple jump, where she finished with a distance of 35’ 6”, and earned the no. 6 spot in the preliminary rankings.
    Jayla Campbell from Rich Central earned the best jump of the day with a distance of 37’ 7.75”.
    Again, the IHSA took the top 12 girls from the three flights, which consisted of 29 athletes.
    Christian will compete on Saturday in the state finals with the hopes of taking the medal stand.
