A bewitching night out for local ladies

Hop on your broom and head out to Witches Night Out, a new fall event organized by the GFWC-IL Coal City Junior Woman's Club.
Club members have been preparing for the Halloween-themed event for a year. The idea came together after several members attended a similar event in Joliet last year.
Junior Terri Tatroe said members immediately said, “we need something like this for the ladies in our area.”
It is a ladies only event, specifically geared to age 18 and over.
The club's first Witches Night Out fundraiser will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Sunshine Garden Center, 2850 E. Division St., Diamond. The cost to attend is $25 per person.
Tickets are available through the link posted on the club's Facebook page located at www.facebook.com/coalcityjuniors/ A limited number of tickets are also available for purchase at the garden center. Ticket sales end Sunday, Oct. 15.
Admission includes a custom glass, digital photo provided by James Vincent Photography, entertainment and certain beverages.
There will also be a Witches Black Market featuring jewelry, clothing, home décor and essential oils. Participants will also be able to purchase food prepared by Milkman Café, Jones-eez Bar-B-Que and Dom's Italian Ice who will also be serving sandwiches at the event. And there will be special drinks including Babe's Bloody Mary.
A highlight of the night will be a costume contest to select the best witches outfit in several categories including scariest, funniest, sexiest and most original.
“Costumes are not required, but highly recommended,” Tatroe said.
All participants will get to enjoy the band Bad Choices and the fun and funky disc jockeys from Thunder Productions, along with a bonfire and spooky stories.
All proceeds go to support the club's various community events.
“It's going to a bewitching night, a really fun time for all who attend,” Tatroe said.
