Miner overpower the Indians

Coal City Miners wrapped up the regular season on Sunday by defeating Sandwich at all four levels.
The Miners Superlights won 21-0 with some collective work on offense by quarterbacks Leo Rodriguez, Cooper Lardi and Cole Coleman. Lardi scored 2 touchdowns, one a 22-yard run and the other on a 65-yard kickoff return. Coleman added a touchdown on a 55-yard run.

Miners undo Bobcats at almost all levels

The Coal City Miners youth football team almost had a total teams sweep for the second week in a row. They won three of four games played Saturday against Wilmington after sweeping the Jr. Comets the week before.
The Superlight Miners fell to the Bobcats, 13-0. On offense, the Miners played well, but just fell short of making it in the endzone. The line did what was expected and plays were ran as planned. Offense will make some adjustments this week and be ready for next week.

Charged with theft, former Miners treasurer posts bond

     The attorney for a woman accused of taking more than $18,000 from the Coal City Miners Youth Football organization has posted bond.
    Following a detailed investigation by the Coal City Police Department, a Grundy County Grand Jury handed down an indictment in November, 2018 formally charging 37-year-old Bridget Hodina, of Cape Coral, FL with theft of more than $10,000 but less than $100,000. It’s alleged that she took funds belonging to the organization during the   nine months she served as its treasurer.
