Pauline Pelton

WILMINGTON—Pauline Pelton, 98, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 at Park Point in Morris.
Born July 11, 1924 in Mattoon, IL, she was a daughter of Robert and Jessie (Fritchley) Erwin. Pauline was raised and educated in Wilmington. On Aug. 30, 1941 she married Raymond Pelton in Beecher, IL and together they cherished 45 years until his passing on April 22, 1987. Pauline worked as a furniture buyer for DeYoung Furniture in Wilmington for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington and served as past treasurer for the church. Pauline enjoyed volunteering her time at Kuzma Care, liked gardening and quilting, and loved traveling.
Survivors include two children, Raymond K. (Darlynn) Pelton, of Wilmington and Linda M. (Gene) Kinder, of Coal City; five grandchildren: Hope Becker, Heather Jurzak, Amy Best, Shawn Kinder and Derek Kinder; 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Joan Erwin, of The Villages, FL and Joanne Erwin, of Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Pelton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond; son, George Pelton and three brothers: Clifford (Sarah), Bernard and Marion Erwin.
A private family service will be held and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington where Pauline will be laid to rest beside her husband, Raymond.
Preferred memorials in Pauline's memory may be made as gifts to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 N. Kankakee Street, Wilmington, IL 60481 or Lightways Hospice.
