William J. Klegman

DIAMOND—William J. “Jersey” Klegman, 66, of Diamond, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Morris Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1953 in Joliet, to William E. and Ruth Ann (nee Connors) Klegman. He graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1972. Jersey served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He married Debra Telfer on Dec. 3, 1988 in Morris.
Jersey was a Grundy County Sheriff's Deputy and later retired from the Coal City Police Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and was a board member of the Grundy County Community Volunteer Hospice. Jersey enjoyed Nascar, hunting and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra Klegman; his daughter, Julie (Tim) Brown; his son, Jim (Heather) Looper; his grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob, Cade, Raegan, Ryleigh, Kylee and Chael; his siblings: Fran (Doug) Strobel, of Wilmington; Patty (Ron) Fox, of Coal City; Kim (Dave) Brown, of Las Vegas, NV and James Klegman; also surviving are special friends: Frank and Claudette Schmitt and Bob and Kim Schmitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Ann Klegman; his sisters, Peggy Ragain and Cathy Broderick and his brothers, Donald Klegman and Thomas Klegman.
Memorials may be directed to the Grundy County Lending Closet, (formerly known as Grundy County Community Volunteer Hospice) 518 W. Illinois Ave., Morris, IL. 60450.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 3 until 7 p.m. at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
Funeral service will be on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10 a.m., also at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416, with Pastor Mark Hughey officiating. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Joe and Charlie Ragain, Robert and Jacob Schmitt and Cade and Jacob Enerson.
