Warriors land roles in “Seussical, Jr.”

     The Cat in the Hat, Horton, Gertrude McFuzz and the Whos of Whoville will take the stage this fall as Coal City Middle School presents the Dr. Seuss-inspired musical, “Seussical, Jr.”
    From the Tony Award winning team of writers — Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty — comes a musical that incorporates many of Dr. Seuss’ beloved characters. The show will be presented by an all-student cast in October.
    The Cat in the Hat, to be played by Stephen Byers, narrates the show as the audience is transported from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus as Horton guards an egg and seeks to protect the Whos.
    Jack Micetich will  direct the 37-member cast. Shanan D’Agostino will serve as vocal director and Kim Scerine is the choreographer.
    Jared Counterman will take the stage as Horton and in the role of Gertrude is Brecken Johnson.
    Ava Houston has been cast as JoJo, Izzy Kostbade is the show’s Mayzie, Kerigan Copes will appear as Sour Kangaroo. Dakotah Clubb is Young Kangaroo and Braiden Young and Skylar Milinkovic will take the stage as Mr. and Mrs. Mayor.
    Wickersham I, II and III will be played by Jacob Zickefoose, Logan Hausman and Mason Natyshok respectively.
    Bird Girl one through five will be portrayed by Reagan Robson, Elaina Patten, Ava Templet, Elaina Chernesky and Kayla Connelly.
    A few other Seuss favorites taking the stage will be The Grinch played by Jaden Williams, Vlad Vladikoof portrayed by Colin Leroy and Logan Hawkins will take the stage as Yertyle the Turtle.
     Rounding out the cast are ensemble members Owen Franklin, Brendan Smith, Sebastian Middleton, Carley Morris and Kilen Davisdon.
    Also, Kylee Kennell, Melody Kinder, Elsa Button, Amelia Fritz, Madison Wilson, Mackenzie Brown, Charli Nelson, D’Arcy Ness, Chess Kuhel, Mae Connor, Alyssa Bowles and Paige Walker.
    “Seussical, Jr.” will be presented Thursday, Oct. 11 and  Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Coal City Performing Arts Center at Coal City High School.
