Vandals hit VFW work site

    Vandals struck at the site of the construction of the new VFW Post 5422 last week, and cost the contractors a few bucks, but didn’t slow down the progress of the project.
    The damage was discovered on Friday morning. Every tire on every vehicle or trailer on the property — 14 of them — was punctured, and it appeared that somebody attempted to push the foundation walls, which had been poured Thursday.
    The concrete had had time to set, however, and the contractor didn’t believe the perpetrators had been able to do any damage.
    Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity, persons or vehicles at the site is asked to report what they saw to Detective Karl Jurgens of the Wilmington Police Department at 815-476-2813.
