As the South Broadway reconstruction project enters its sixth week, the village of Coal City will host a town hall open house this weekend for residents to learn more about the project.
The $4.5 million reconstruction project includes a new roadway complete with center turn lane and bike lanes on both the east and west sides, infrastructure upgrades, and a streetscape that will provide new sidewalks, street lights and landscaping.
Additionally, improvements will be made leading up to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail crossing on both the north and south sides including a center median.
Design and project engineers from Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. will be on hand to answer questions regarding the project. Various renderings of the roadway and streetscape plans will be on display.
The doors to Coal City’s Village Hall will be open from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. Residents interested in learning more are encouraged to stop in during that time.
