Tommy Cowherd

DIAMOND— Tommy Cowherd, 61, of Diamond, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at Morris Hospital, following a battle with Esophageal Cancer.
Born June 19, 1960 in the former Rosary Hospital of Campbellsville, KY, Thomas Lee was a son of Theodore and Ellen Faye (Hunter) Cowherd. He was raised and educated in Campbellsville and went on to attend University of Kentucky. On June 12, 1992, Tommy married Betsy Gervase in Morris, and together they made a home and raised their family.
Tommy was currently employed with CHS Elburn, and over the past 20 years worked as a Certified Crop Advisor and Applicator. He was a member of the Downers Grove Gun Club, the National Rifle Association and the Appaloosa Horse Club Association. In addition to his love of guns and horses, Tommy was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed paintball. His family was his first and foremost priority, and his greatest interest was his boys.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy; two sons: Thomas “Lane” Cowherd of Coal City and Kyle Cowherd of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, David (Sherry) Cowherd of Campbellsville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam and Donna Gervase; sister-in-law, Becky (the late Myles) Johnson and three nieces: Carrie Ellen Gupton, Jessie Cowherd and Rebekah Cowherd.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.
Green flameless cremation rites are being accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022 at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City from 11:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service, 2:00 p.m. Rev. Brad Shumaker from the Coal City United Methodist Church will officiate.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Tommy’s memory to his family for their distribution to Cancer Research Organizations of their choosing.
