Threat unfounded

     Local law enforcement officers were called to Coal City Middle School on Tuesday to investigate an alleged threat of violence.
    The Unit 1 School District released the following statement at 2:15 p.m.
    On Tuesday, May 22, the Coal City Middle School administration became aware of an alleged threat of violence made by a juvenile.  After an investigation was completed by local law enforcement and the middle school administration, it was determined that the threat was unfounded.  At no time did local law enforcement recommend that the middle school go on lockdown because students were not at risk.  Please reinforce with your children the serious consequences of making any statements regarding threats of violence.
