Ruth Bauter

BRAIDWOOD—Ruth Bauter (nee Witham), 94, of Braidwood, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Heritage Lodge in Kankakee, IL.  
Born Sept. 24, 1922 in Chillicothe, IL, she was the daughter of Matthew and Helen (nee Trobridge) Witham. Ruth married Donald A. Bauter in November of 1944.  She was very active at the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.  She was an elder and active in the Woman's Group. Ruth volunteered for many organizations, including Royal Willow Nursing Home, Hospice, Vision Opthalmic Services for Humanity, the Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts. Ruth was former president and secretary of the Braidwood Senior Citizens. She was a member of the local Red Hats and was also honored to be grand marshal for Braidwood Summerfest parade and also received a certificate of appreciation from the Senior Service Center of Will County. She traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, and Asia.  
Surviving are one son, Carl (Sandy) Bauter of Braidwood; daughter, Donna (Charles) Frisch of Alliance, NE; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Cindy) Bauter of Dallas, TX; David Bauter of Braidwood, Noah Bauter of Denver, CO; Gillian Frisch of Portland, ME; Nilson Frisch of Lincoln, NE; Agnus Frisch of Rapid City, SD and Marina Frisch of Portland, ME and two great-grandchildren, Caelan and Emma Bauter;.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Donald Bauter; daughter, Susan Ware and sister, Helen Newman.  
Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour preceding services. Rev. Dale Tolly will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, IL.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
