Ron Hetzel

WILMINGTON—Ron Hetzel, 64, of Wilmington, formerly of Westmont and Downers Grove, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born Jan. 13, 1954 in Oak Park, Ronald Jay was a son of John Jr. and Helen (nee Evers) Hetzel. He was raised and graduated high school in Westmont, and would gain employment with Pepperidge Farm in Downers Grove where he worked for over 30 years until he retired.
Ron moved to Wilmington in 1991; he loved spending time outdoors, and the Kankakee River area held a special place in his heart. He was a fishing and gun enthusiast, in addition to being a proud member of the National Rifle Association, and was happiest when he could be outside doing the things that he loved.
Survivors include his three siblings: Sharon (Roger) Coleman, of Lakeville, CT; Richard Hetzel, of Westmont and Judith Crandall, of Coon Rapids, MN; one nephew, Adam Crandall; one niece, Kim (Kevin) Morelli and one great-niece, Juliana Morelli.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Greg Crandall.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Ron’s family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 12 p.m. until time of memorial service at 1:30 p.m., at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd., in Wilmington.
