Roger C. Monbrum

COAL CITY—Roger C. Monbrum, 80, of Coal City, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 with his family by his side.
He was born July 26, 1938 at his family home in Coal City to Lawrence and Mary (nee Capet) Monbrum.  He was educated in Coal City Schools. He married Darlene A. Korelc at the Assumption Catholic Church on April 9, 1960 and together they raised their family. Roger worked as a fuel handler at the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant, Commonwealth Edison. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved boating, fishing and gardening. He also helped to develop the Coal City Area Club and was a lifetime member.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene; his daughters: Susan (Larry) Wells, of Essex; Jean (Gerardo) Salinas, of Texas and Kathryn (Pat) Vint, of Mazon; his son, Richard (Gloria Smith) Monbrum, of Coal City; his grandchildren: Nicole Ford, Rodney Monbrum Jr., Emily Wells, Allison Yuhasz, Cheyenne Salinas, Aaron Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Ryan Vint, Taylor Monbrum, Zakk Mitchell and Nick Parks; and his great-grandchildren: Turner and Carter Ford, Bryce Monbrum, Jude Wells, Gabriel Yuhasz, Emersyn and Easton Roberts, Mackenzie Roberts, Nathan Eamon and Zayden Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Rodney Monbrum Sr.; his grandson, Evan Vint; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Lawrence (Peggy), Hector (Shirley) and Carl Monbrum; his sister and brother-in-law, Norma (John) Lazier and his daughter-in-law, Crystal Monbrum.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Dr., Coal City with Father Robert Noesen officiating.
