Robert Springborg

MORRIS—Robert Charles Springborg, 90, of Morris and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 in Morris.      Born Aug. 27, 1927 in Omaha, NE to the William and Edith (nee Fuglei) Springborg Sr. He served in the United States Navy and then married Marjorie Whitesel on Nov. 26, 1965 in Joliet. He was an overhead crane operator and retired from E.J.E. Railroad in Joliet.  Robert served as a deacon at the Church of Christ in Wilmington and enjoyed fishing, art, poetry, trains and spending time with his family.  
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; son, Robert (Jill) Springborg Jr., of Manitowoc, WI; daughters, Marjorie (Grant) Horn, of Wilmington;  Bonnie Smith, of Morris; Deanna (Patrick) Bodwen, of Reedsville, WI; Gloretta (Frank) Thomas, of Pottsboro, TX; Laura (Greg) Macella, of Racine, WI; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lilie Goldsberry; son, Keith Springborg; sisters, Marge Curtis and Lorraine Fuller and twin brother, William Springborg.  
Funeral services will be at the RW Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. with interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood following.  
Pallbearers will be Jason Goldsberry, Elizabeth Goldsberry, Irene Horn, Joseph Horn, Grant Horn and Lillian Goldsberry. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
