Robert Ginter
ELWOOD—Robert “Bob” Ginter, 62, of Elwood, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL with his loving family by his side.
Born Aug. 19, 1962 in Omaha, NE, Robert George was a son of Robert and Jane (Nickel) Ginter. He grew up on multiple Air Force bases until his family settled back home in Elwood. In November of 1986, Bob married Eileen Caher and together they would make their home in Elwood. Bob began his career at EMCO until joining Lyondell Bassell in Morris for over 30 years. Bob took great pride in his hobbies such as golfing, hunting and fishing, but his real joy was being with his family. He was also intrigued by learning about local history and was part of the Elwood History Club. He was a skilled craftsman, particularly with woodworking, and could make just about anything. He leaves behind a lasting legacy that will be cherished by his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Eileen Ginter, of Elwood; three children: Chrissy Ginter, of Elwood; Amber (Amy) Dettmering, of Bourbonnais and Jeff Ginter (Natalie Martello), of Elwood; one grandson, Liam Dettmering, as well as two bonus grandchildren, Olivia and Reagan Anderson; six brothers and sisters: Donna Ginter, of Tolono, IL; Mike (Marty) Ginter, of Elwood; David Ginter and Johnny (Patrick) Ginter, both of Joliet; and Lori (David) Greenback and Keri (Chuck) Simpson, both of Elwood; several brothers and sisters-in-law: Deb (Frank) Lawrence, of Lostant, IL; Colleen Couch, of Joliet; Teri (Keith) Siefert, of Braidwood; Peggy (Jim) Ellingham, of Manteno, IL; Mary Caher, of Gallatin, TN; Tim (Lori) Caher, of Hendersonville, TN and Mike (Shannon) Caher, of Coal City; numerous nieces and nephews, and one aunt, Pat (Jerry) Buchenau, of Elwood.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Brian Caher.
Per Bob's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Nov. 16, 2024 at 17709 W Bicentennial Dr. in Elwood at 1p.m.
