Post 1336 goes back to class

St. Juvin Post 1336 adjutant Keith Roseland and junior vice commander James (Hoppy) Phillips spent part of Friday, Sept. 21 with  Coal City High School's  RUSH (Recent U.S. History) class.         Roseland, an U. S. Army veteran and Phillips, a Marine aviation veteran,  spent time “in country” and shared their perspectives on military service during the Vietnam War with 25 members of the high school class.
Roseland started sharing his military experiences with high schoolers in 2008, when he was invited in by now retired history teacher Dean Vigna's RUSH class in 2008. Dave Sinkular has continued the tradition of having Vietnam vets share their experiences with the students.
RUSH is an elective course which covers the last 100 years or so of our nation's history. For the past three years, Roseland has been joined by Phillips and other Vietnam veterans from Post 1336.
The presentation has also been made to students at Wilmington High School.
St. Juvin's Vets Go to School program also makes other presentations available to Coal City's intermediate, middle and high schools.
