Norman L. White

GOOSE LAKE—Norman L. White, 90, of Goose Lake, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at the Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle.
Born March 24, 1927 in Morris, IL, Norman LeRoy was a son of Orville and Anne (Sistek) White. He was raised in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School. On Sept. 19, 1944, Norman was inducted into the United States Navy, where he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. During his tenure in the service, Norman worked on an LCI Class ship with the landing craft infantry during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 21, 1948.
Norman went on to work as a carpenter, building homes and bridges over the years, and retired from the Carpenters Union. He and his wife, Nettie also owned and operated Whispering Pines Resort in Boulder Junction, WI for several years. In his free time, Norman loved fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and took advantage of hunting elk and deer in Oregon.
Norman was the father of one son, Donald; one daughter, Katherine and a granddaughter. Dale Galbreath, of Goose Lake, who was like a brother to Norman, also survives.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nettie Louise (Greenbeck); daughter, Katherine; son, Donald and two brothers.
Visitation will be held at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of IL Route 113 in Coal City on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Pastor Bradley Shumaker will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in Seward Mound Cemetery in Minooka, where he will be laid to rest with his late wife, Nettie.
