Norma Hart

COAL CITY—Norma (Corn) Hart, 71, of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at Morris Hospital in the presence of family and friends.
Born April 15, 1947 in Morris, Norma Elizabeth was a daughter of Fred and Evelyn (Vilt) Corn. She was raised and educated in Coal City and attended Coal City Schools. Norma was a friend to everyone she met. On May 13, 1965, she married Bill Hart and they were married for 49 years until he lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 8, 2014.  Together they had two wonderful sons, Kregg (Jami) Hart and Kevin (Tracy) Hart, both of Coal City.
Norma was very active raising rabbits with her parents starting at a young age, and continued in the hobby after becoming partners with Richard Gehr in 1974. Norma held various officer positions in multiple rabbit clubs at many levels, local, state, regional, and national, with the most notable being secretary-treasurer of the American Dutch Rabbit Club and secretary-treasurer of the Illinois Rabbit Breeders Association, both of which she was awarded Life Memberships. She was also a life member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Norma was one of only five people that have been inducted into the Illinois Rabbit Breeders Association Hall of Fame, and was also inducted into the American Dutch Rabbit Club Hall of Fame. She loved the rabbits, but most of all the many friends she made throughout the years.
Survivors include three grandchildren: Kori Hart, Megan Hart and Matthew (Jessi) Hart; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Hart; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Louis) Glauner, of Madison, WI.  Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Lavinia Woodard, of Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Dan) Busha, of Texas and Linda (Buddy) Hughes, of Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as very special friends: Richard Gehr, Jake Weatherhead and Larry and Sue Tarman.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Fred and Evelyn Corn and father-in-law, Bill Hart Sr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of Illinois Route 113 in Coal City.
Following services, Norma will be laid to rest with her husband in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and a luncheon will be held at the home of Ray and Kathy Lissy, 4210 S. Broadway Road in Braceville.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Gehr, Donald Vilt, Lou Glauner, Kyle Glauner, Raymond Lissy and Gary Vilt.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Norma’s memory to her family for their distribution, in care of Kevin and Tracy Hart, 160 N First Ave, Coal City, IL 60416.
