Martha A. Squellati

WILMINGTON—Martha A. Squellati (nee Gallagher), 69, of Wilmington passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born June 24, 1948 in Morgantown, WV, Martha Alice was the daughter of Mary Bittaker and Lawrence Gallagher. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1961. On June 29, 1968, Martha married Joseph Wayne Squellati in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, volunteered at Saint Rose School, and was a member of the Coal City Area Club. Martha enjoyed reading and going to the Wilmington Public Library, as well as doing crossword puzzles and playing bingo. She participated in a regular bowling league, and will be remembered most as a loving and devoted wife, mom and grandma.
Survivors include her mother, Mary (the late LeRoy) Bittaker, of New Lenox; her husband of 49 years, Joseph Squellati, of Wilmington; three children: Connie (Wayne) Horne, of Raleigh, NC; Joe Squellati, of Wilmington and Maribeth Hines (Mike Huffer), of Wilmington; seven grandchildren: Cainon Reed, Joseph and Anthony Knutson, Benjamin and Logan Squellati, Madilyn Coyne and Makenzie Huffer; two brothers, Michael (Marilyn) Gallagher, of New Lenox and Henry Bittaker, of Florida; two sisters-in-law: Marion Gallagher, of Orlando, FL and Linda (Jim) Luttrell, of Pompano Beach, FL; several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved Cairn Terrier, Max.
Martha was preceded in death by her father; her daughter, Cathryn Squellati and a child in infancy; two brothers: Franklin Boggess and John Gallagher; mother and father-in-law, William and Elizabeth Squellati; brother-in-law, Steve Squellati; special aunt, Freida Bailey and special nephew, Eddie Squellati.
Visitation and video tribute will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd., in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, March 14, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Reverend Sebastian Gargol will preside. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Braidwood.
