Let's go Lady Cats! Sectional championship game next

THE LADY WILDCATS celebrate a hard-earned point and hopefully there will be a lot more celebration on Thursday at 5:30 when they play for the Sectional Championship in Manteno. Players include (from left) Rachel Smith, Skylar Knight, Molly Southall, Maggie Lindsey and Reese Van Duyne.

Wilmington's volleyball team won Tuesday's semi-final sectional contest over Chicago University, advancing to Thursday's sectional championship match against Chicago Christian (Palos Heights).

The Lady Wildcats (#1 seed) were fired up, grabbing the lead early in both games to win the match 25-21, 25-15. Following their win was Chicago Christian (Palos Heights) the #4 seed) who beat Bishop McNamara 25-20, 26-28, 25-15.

On the flip side of the bracket #1 seed, Seneca, was knocked off by Prophetstown 25-16, 25-22 and very well may be the team Wilmington will face in the Super-Sectional in Seneca on Monday at 6 p.m.

But first Wilmington has to defeat Chicago Christian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to claim the Manteno Sectional Championship. Coach Kelly Van Duyne and her team are looking for as much fan support as possible to storm the Manteno gym.
