L. Alaine Kubal

L. Alaine Kubal (formerly James) nee Caylor, 74, passed away June 29, 2018 in Portland, OR in a Hospice Care Center.
She was educated at Illinois State University and she taught high school English at Prairie Central High School. She was a former secretary to the superintendent for Reed-Custer Unit District 255U, and also worked for Northern PetroChemical in Morris. She ran The Shape of Things health club, formerly in Coal City, worked for Turk Furniture in Joliet, and she was a singer in some Illinois bands.
Alaine will be remembered as not only the “It” girl in high school, but also throughout her lifetime. Her passion for living, her presence, her strong intellect and unforgettable laugh drew people to her. From the lead majorette in her high school, twirling and throwing burning batons high into the air as she marched in her white boots, to her quest for a college degree and high school English teacher career helping high school students blaze a brighter future, to her big-band singing days on the stage, this world lost a bright shining star that is most certainly making heaven brighter as she reunites with those who left before her. To those she left behind, her positive energy, love and guidance will be forever missed.
Surviving are her sisters: Marsha Wardinski, Mary Neps (Dave) and Vivian Caylor; childrenz; Laurie Novy (Wes), Darrin James (Paula) and Hilary Kohs (Tracey); her grandchildren: Gregory James, Alivia Smith (Ryan), Jacob Novy, Alexendra Kohs and TJ Kohs; her great-grandchildren: Tanner, Lainey, Everett, Sofia and Bennett, and her dog, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Christopher Walter James; her loving parents, Melvin Matthew and Francis Elizabeth Caylor (nee Reeves); her brother-in-law, Bernard Wardinski and her beloved dog, Max.
