Joe Craterfield

WILMINGTON—Joe Craterfield, 65, of Wilmington passed away Wednesday Feb. 21, 2018 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born Aug. 12, 1952 in Joliet, Joseph Earl, Jr. was a son of Joseph, Sr. and Reida (nee Willis) Craterfield. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1970.
Joe worked as a sheet metal worker, and was a former member of Local Union #265. He married Faye Sullivan, who preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2000. Following Faye’s passing, Joe moved to Fayetteville, AK and worked with his friend, Gene Kahler, for seven years until moving back to Wilmington.
He always had a passion for cars, and in his younger years would build and race them with his friends.
Survivors include his brother: Terry (Debbie) Craterfield of Wilmington; his niece and nephew: Aaron and Tiffany, as well as several cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and Joe will be laid to rest with his wife and parents in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington at a later date.
