James L. Johnson

WILMINGTON—James L. Johnson, 83, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his home.
Born Jan. 19, 1937 in Elroy, WI, James Loren was a son of Floyd and Ruby (Thompson) Johnson. In his elementary years, Jim moved with his family to the Wilmington area, and he went on to graduate from Wilmington High School with the class of 1955. On Feb. 17, 1962, Jim married Donna Glenney in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. He worked as a plumber with Van Duyne Brothers before entering into the Pipefitters Joliet Local, from where he retired.
Remembered as a quiet and kind man, Jim took pleasure in hunting and fishing, as well as following the Green Bay Packers. Spending time with his grandchildren was what he enjoyed more than anything.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children: Karen (Terry) Scheuerman, of Eau Claire, WI; Janelle (James) Ulibarri, of Sheridan, WY and James Jr. (Lori) Johnson, of Buffalo, WY; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Eileen (the late James) O’Reilly, of Branson, MO and Gloria (Al) Abraham, of Maricopa, AZ; sisters-in-law: Diane Johnson, of Scottsdale, AZ; Colleen (Rick) Schumacher, of Wilmington and Gail Wallen, of Bonita Springs, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Bruce Johnson.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020 from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 5 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington. Face masks requirements and measures of safe social distancing practices will be in order, and the funeral home staff will assist the family not to exceed the safe number set forth for both the visitation and service.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and Jim will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim’s memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 S. Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481.
