Henry Lyons

COAL CITY—Henry “Cob” Lyons, 59, of Coal City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 16, 1959 in Morris, IL. to Henry “Hank” and Nancy (nee Ross) Lyons. Cob grew up in the area and graduated from Coal City High School class of 1977. He married Rebecca “Becky” Hutchings at the New Hope Presbyterian Church on June 7, 2008.
He worked several jobs over the years including at Smith Hardware, Broadway Ford Garage with his Dad and for the past 23 years with “D” Construction as a driver.
Cob enjoyed sports of all kinds including the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks. He attended Game One of the World Series in a rainstorm to support his beloved Chicago White Sox.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Becky; his parents Hank and Nancy Lyons; daughter Katie (Josh) Peters; sister Sue Lyons; brother Greg (Cathy) Lyons; three grandchildren, Kyle Peters and Lily and Isaiah Goley (of Statham, GA.), nieces and nephews, Ben (Felicia) Lyons, Luke (Nikki Parks) Lyons, Jake, Josh, Joe and Maddie Mae Hutchings, Chris (Katie) Hajdu , Leah Hajdu, Miller Hajdu  and Payton Hutching; parents in law, Jim and Cathy Hutchings and brothers in law, Dan (Janet) Hutchings and Darrin (Julie) Hutchings. Also surviving is his locker buddy and classmate, Beth Lissy Wren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Alexander Goley and by lifelong friend, Mikey John Lissy.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City. Pastor Bradley Shumaker will officiate. Interment will follow at Braceville/Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Hutchings, Darrin Hutchings, Pete Residori, Jim “Bubba” Boblie, Tom Hanley, Ben Lyons, Luke Lyons and Honorary Pallbearers Dave Hanley, Kyle Peters, Lori Pierard and Cathy Schachtschneider.
A Celebration of Life gathering, or            “Cobfest” as it has been named, will also be Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at “D” Construction, 1488 S. Broadway Rd, Coal City.  All family and friends are invited to attend.
