Death of Verona woman ruled a homicide

The death of a Verona woman found inside her burning home has been ruled a homicide.
Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley in correlation with Grundy County Coroner John Callahan announced Monday that Elizabeth Ann Link, 39, died as the result of an undetermined inflicted trauma.
Grundy County Sheriff’s deputies and multiple are fire departments were dispatched to 3200 S. Verona Rd., at approximately 5:40 a.m., Tuesday, May 14 for a residential structure fire. As firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, they discovered Link’s body inside the home. An autopsy was completed later that day along with toxicology tests.
At the request of the sheriff, the Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force was activated along with the Illinois State Fire Marshall and fire investigators from Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 15 to investigate both the death of Link and fire at her home.
In announcing the cause of death, the sheriff and coroner emphasized this remains an active and ongoing investigation with the goal of bringing justice to Link who is survived by her parents, a son, grandparents and three siblings.
