Deanna Casteel

WILMINGTON—Deanna Casteel, 78, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Bourbonnais.
Born July 19, 1938 in Joliet, Deanna Rae was a daughter of John Raymond and Madeline Rebecca (nee Hertline) Forsythe. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from St. Francis Academy with the class of 1956. Deanna married James Isaac Casteel in Wilmington, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1991. She was previously employed as a nursing assistant at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Deanna was a member of Christian Faith Center in Wilmington and enjoyed spending her time following soap operas.
Survivors include her four children: Ken (Linda) Wandless of Aiken, SC; John (Sue) Wandless of Wilmington, Karen (Richard) Blackwell of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Lisa (Hank) Buczkiewicz of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren: Daniel Wandless of Aiken, Brian (Ashley) Wandless of Wilmington, Nick (Andrea) Wandless of Evans, GA; Steven Wandless of Nashville, TN; Scott (Brooke) Wandless of Martinez, GA and Brian Casteel of Wilmington; seven great-grandchildren: Brandon, Tristen, Daniel, William, MacClain, Lea and Andrew; her brother-in-law, Eugene (Peggy) Warren of Shelbyville, TN and numerous cousins, as well as her best friend, Jean Carter of Lockport.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Per Deanna’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
The family will receive friends Saturday July 15, 2017 at Christian Faith Center, 1800 S. Water St. in Wilmington, from 11 a.m. until the time of her Celebration of Life at 12 p.m. Pastor Jeff Urban will officiate.  A private family inurnment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington, where Deanna will be laid to rest with her late husband.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Deanna’s memory to Christian Faith Center, 1800 S. Water St., Wilmington, IL 60481.
