Daniel J. Chinski Sr.

BRAIDWOOD-Daniel J. Chinski, 77, of Braidwood, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 in his Braidwood home. He was born June 26, 1941 in Custer Park to Madeline and Matthew Chinski. He was their third of four children.
In the summer of 1965 Dan started dating his childhood friend, Judy Dixon. They were married on Nov. 13, 1965 and celebrated nearly 53 happy years of marriage. Dan and Judy were blessed with four children: Dan (Chandra) Chinski, Jamie (Darren) Mack, Jill (O'Shea) Chinski and Judiann Chinski. They were grandparents to five: Kaylie (Michael) Barrow, Paige Mack, Hunter O’Shea, Hayden Mack and Darby O’Shea.
Dan grew up in Custer Park and attended Reed-Custer High school. He worked at R.R. Donnelly & Sons in Dwight for 32 years where he retired as bindery supervisor. He and his wife, Judy, along with Cathy and John Dixon are co-owners of Polka Dot Drive In in Braidwood.
Dan and Judy raised their family in Braidwood. In his retirement, Dan continued to care for his family, alternating his time between golf matches and family events and sporting activities.
Dan loved the Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers and suffered the life-long taunts of friends who did not approve. He loved golfing, reading, coaching little league, singing around the campfire and travelling with Judy and their friends. Mostly, he loved being with his grandchildren and cheering them on with Judy by his side.
Services will be held at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home in Braidwood. Details are pending, but will be posted on the funeral home’s website, www.rwpattersonfuneralhomes.com and on their Facebook page as soon as they are decided.
