Council assigns committees, chairs

The Wilmington City Council assigned aldermen to committees and selected chairmen for each during a Committee of the Whole meeting last Tuesday.
All eight members of the council serve on the Finance, Administration and Land Acquisition Committee and the Personnel and Collective Bargaining Committee.
Five council members are assigned to the Police and ESDA Committee, the Ordinance and Licensing Committee, the Buildings, Grounds, Parks, Health and Safety Committee and the Water, Sewer, Streets and Alleys Committee.
Fourth Ward Alderman Frank Studer and Third Ward Alderman Ben Dietz will serve as the co-chairmen of the Finance, Administration and Land Acquisition Committee. The committee’s regular meeting is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., in the council chamber at city hall.
First Ward Alderman John Persic Jr. will continue as a co-chairman of the Personnel and Collective Bargaining Committee. Second Ward Alderman Dennis Vice was added as a co-chair. The committee meets as needed.
Studer and Third Ward Alderman Lisa Butler will serve as the chairmen of the Police and ESDA (Emergency Services and Disaster Agency) Committee. Persic, Dietz and Fourth Ward Alderman Jake Tenn round out the committee. The Police and ESDA Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Tenn will co-chair of the Ordinance and Licensing Committee, sharing the responsibility with Second Ward Alderman Floyd Combes. First Ward Alderman Kevin Kirwin, Vice and Butler complete the committee. The committee’s regular meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
Persic and Combes will co-chair the Building, Grounds, Parks, Health and Safety Committee. Members also include Tenn, Kirwin and Butler. The committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Combes, Vice and Dietz will serve on the Water, Sewer, Streets and Alleys Committee chaired by Studer and Kirwin. The committee’s regular meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.
All committee meetings are held in the council chambers at city hall, 1165 S. Water St. Agendas are available at least 48 hours in advance of each meeting on the city’s website, www.wilmington-il.com.
