Coal City, Diamond post water restrictions

The villages of Coal City and Diamond are reminding residents that the watering of lawns, washing cars and filling swimming pools are restricted to certain days of the week due to municipal ordinance.
The watering schedule allows Coal City residents with even numbered addresses to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and odd numbered addresses on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. There is no watering allowed on Saturday, the highest water usage day of the week.
In the village of Diamond, residents with even numbered addresses can water on even numbered calendar days from 6-10 a.m. and 6-10 p.m. The same hours are in place for residents with odd numbered addresses who can water on odd numbered calendar days.
Watering is not limited to watering lawns, gardens and outdoor plants. It includes filling swimming pools and washing vehicles.
Coal City officials ask that residents of Carbon Hill, who purchase water from Coal City, observe the same guidelines.
