Cletus Bozych

GOOSE LAKE—Cletus “Jerry” Bozych, 82, of Goose Lake, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Sept. 20, 1935 in Lemont, Illinois, Cletus Jerome was a son of Harry and Hazel (Lund) Bozych. He was raised and educated in Lemont, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956.
Jerry was a 50 year member of Operating Engineers Local 150, and retired from Hager Excavating in Lombard. He was also a former member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1889.
Over the years, Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a welder and had a love for golf.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Karen (nee Solley) whom he married  Jan. 20, 1962 in Lemont; one son, Bart (Wendy) Bozych of Coal City; two grandchildren: Brooke (James) Tharp of Braidwood and Brandon Bozych of Carbon Hill; two step-grandchildren: Alexis Baxter of Onarga and Samantha (Charlie) Kabureck of Romeoville; one great grandson Jensen, soon expected; one step great grandson, Liam; one brother, Jim (Debbie) Bozych of Michigan; one sister, Betty (Robert) Miedl of Goose Lake; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Bill Green of Odell, Mary Lou Arnold of Lockport and Robert Schwartz of Shorewood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother George (Jeanne) Bozych; sister, Theresa Green and sister-in-law, Celine Schwartz.
Per Jerry’s wishes, private family services were held, and cremation rites are being accorded.
Inurnment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Lemont at a later date.
