Bruce G. Park

TENNESSEE—Bruce G. Park, 79, of Chattanooga, TN and formerly of Orland Park, Tinley Park and Wilmington, IL, passed away Monday morning, July 3, 2017 at his home.
Born July 28, 1937 in Chicago, IL, Bruce Gilbert was a son of the late Andrew R. Park, Jr. and Lena C. Park (nee Conroy). He was raised and educated in Decatur, and went on to earn his bachelor of arts at Millikin University in Decatur. Bruce retired as the Executive Vice President and COO of Beverly Bancor.
Bruce enjoyed backpacking; section hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Vermont, and hiked the Grand Canyon, Isle Royale and the Ozark Highland Trail to mention a few. He also took pleasure in whitewater rafting, which included the Middle and Main Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho, the New River and Gauley River, both in West Virginia, the Monongahelia River in Pennsylvania, and the Colorado River.
Bruce also loved creating stained glass pieces, stamp collecting, history, reading, day hikes, travel, and bird watching.
Survivors include his wife Margaret M. Park (nee Murphy), whom he married October 5, 1997 in Sycamore, IL; nine children: Daniel Park (Rosalie) of New York, NY, Benjamin Park, Michael Park (Marcia) of Tolono, IL, Valerie Togliatti (Tim) of Coal City, IL, Lena Price (William) of Port Orchard, WA, Maria Holstead (Jon) of Chicago, IL, Charles M. Peterson, III of Joliet, IL, Laurel Kherani (Noorali) of Wheaton, IL, and Elizabeth Michuda of Libertyville, IL; (11) grandchildren: Rebecca Park (Romain Gresillon) of Paris, France, David Park of New York, NY, Barbara Park of Reno, NV,  Logan Park of Sidney, IL , Lyra Togliatti of Coal City, IL, Jacob Holstead and Jon Holstead, both of Chicago, IL, Sadiya Kherani and Aadil Kherani, both of Wheaton, IL, and Kate Michuda and Conor Michuda, both of Libertyville, IL; one sister Florence Catherine Hovis (James) of DeKalb, IL; one brother George Park (Linda) of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law  Sandra Linkletter (Gary Driscoll) of Norwalk, IA, and nieces & nephews: Julie Burgener (Marc Marion), Laura Stuebing (Friedemann), Keith Taylor (Mila), James Park (Audrey), and Bryan Park (Sung Yim), as well as numerous cousins.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Park and one daughter Camille Park.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.
Funeral service will follow Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.             Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bruce's memory to the American Cancer Society.
