Betty Findlay

MORRIS—Betty L. Findlay, 68, of Morris, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 20, 2018 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born Jan. 16, 1950 in Morris, Betty was a daughter of Glen and Janet (Gunderson) Anderson. She was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1968.
Betty spent her career at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet and retired as a purchasing analyst after 30 years of service. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Morris and throughout the years enjoyed singing in the choir and playing in the hand bell choir.
Humble, loving, and kind, Betty lived a heart-centered life rich in faith, family and service to others. Whether baking a pie for which she was renowned, spending cherished time with her grandchildren, or mingling among friends downtown during a Cruise Night, Betty’s heart and thoughts were always centered around the well-being of others.
A true example of a Christian role model, Betty will long be remembered in the hearts of those she loved.
Survivors include her husband, David Findlay, whom she married April 26, 1985 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris; son, Brian (Annette) Findlay of Bradley and her daughter-in-law, Jenn Andrews of Momence; four grandchildren: Kyle Findlay and Ashlyn Findlay, both of Momence and Kierra Findlay and Matthew Findlay, both of Bradley; one sister, Nancy (Jim) McCormick of Mazon; niece, Kimberly (Russell) Wendling of Kaneville and great nieces: Kaitlyn (Jeremy) White of Elgin and Anna Wendling of Kaneville, as well as several cousins including her dear cousin, Sue (Lou) Salinas of Minooka.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and son Brent Douglas on Nov. 11, 1997.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris.
Funeral services will follow Monday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 1650 W. Illinois Route 6 in Morris at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Larson will officiate.
Burial will be in Saratoga Cemetery in Morris, where Betty will be laid to rest next to her parents. Pallbearers will be: Brian Findlay, Kyle Findlay, Jim McCormick, Lou Salinas, Adam Salinas and Jonathan Visser.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Betty’s memory to the First Baptist Church, 1650 W. Illinois Route 6, Morris, Illinois 60450.
