Arthur Trotter

COAL CITY—Arthur Robert Trotter, 92, of Coal City, passed away July 29, 2018.
He was born to Robert and Blanche (Mahon) Trotter on Oct. 25, 1925. He was raised on the family's dairy farm and started delivering milk at the age of 14. He worked hard operating Trotter's Dairy for 25 years. On Oct. 1, 1949 he married the love of his life, June Machovec. They spent their entire married life living one block from the multi-generational family farm. His last 20 years of employment was as an insurance agent for Country Companies. He enjoyed working with his clients and forming many friendships.
Arthur was a Charter Member of Coal City EMS, with 32 years of service and during that time delivered four babies. He was a volunteer fireman for the town of Coal City and was the fire chief for many years. In later years, he was president of the Coal City Fire Protection District and was awarded for his 60 years of service by the Illinois Fire Marshal. He was Felix Township Commissioner for eight years and served 22 years as a trustee.  Arthur was a devoted member of New Hope Presbyterian Church of Coal City and was a past member of the Coal City Lions Club.
Arthur loved to travel. He and June went on numerous trips with wonderful friends. They traveled to 49 states, missing North Dakota, and traveled abroad. He loved playing bridge and enjoyed his “Pot Luck” group. He was an avid Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks fan. After retiring, he spent 26 winters in Sarasota, FL. His truest gift of joy was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by his five children: Andrea (Dominic) Pantaleone, of Sarasota, FL; Andrew (Jane) Trotter, of Elk Grove Village; David (Debbie) Trotter, of Wheaton; James (Renee') Trotter, of Buford, GA and Alicia (Paul) O'Keefe, of Morris; 13 grandchildren: Steven (Jessica) Trotter, Elizabeth (Andrew) Hoffman, Timothy (Meaghan) Pantaleone, Joanne (Wawan) Kurniawan, Holly (Donald) Deutschlander, Bradley (Hannah) Trotter, Lauren (Joshua) Kaluzny, Michael O'Keefe (Ellen), Kerry Trotter, Nicole Klecka, Adam Trotter, Rachel Klecka, and Danielle Trotter; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan, Alison, Kevin, Camden, Ian, Jack, Kimberly, Dylan and Evelyn plus two great-grandchildren on the way. He is also survived by one sister, Amy Anderson, of Kalamazoo, MI.
He is also survived by his loving caregivers Char, Rebecca, Becky, Meghan and Candlelight Home Health Staff: Colleen, Kailee, and Holly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, June; his parents and his brother, Freeman Trotter.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 N. Garfield St., Coal City with Pastor Mark Hughey officiating. Family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to the New Hope Presbyterian Church or Hospice.
