The No. 1 ranked Wildcats improved to 6-0 and locked in an IHSA football playoff berth for the 26th straight year with a bruising 21-14 victory over Reed-Custer.
The Comets, 5-0 coming into Friday’s contest, was a serious threat. They’re having their best year since 2009 and earned plenty of respect when everything was done and through. For the first time in a long time Reed-Custer was seen as an equal.
Wilmington coach Jeff Reents gave credit to the Reed-Custer players who fought hard.
