The Wilmington Wildcats finally returned to the track and field after spending more than a year away from competition due to the pandemic.
The Wildcats played host to visiting Herscher for their first outdoor meet of the season on Thursday. When the night was over, the girls won with 56 points to Herscher's 31 while the boys were narrowly defeated by Herscher, 59-46.
There were many excellent performances on the night, highlighted by Chloe Proffitt's new school record in the 1600. Chloe beat her old record with a time of 5:36.84.
