The village of Coal City has submitted a grant application seeking more than $314,000 in federal housing rehabilitation funds.
In advance of a Nov. 2 application deadline the village, through a partnership with the North Central Illinois Council of Governments (NCICG), has forwarded its request to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the agency that administers the federal funds.
The grant program is a free way for low to moderate income homeowners to renovate and rehabilitate their property.
