The start of the school week looked a bit different as students and staff were allowed to enter their attendance centers without a mask covering their nose and mouth.
Masking is now optional in Unit 1 Schools. The change comes in response to a temporary restraining order [TRO] that blocks schools from enforcing state imposed COVID mitigation mandates.
The TRO was granted just before 5 p.m. on Friday. The decision handed down by Sangamon County Judge Raylene Grischow was for a motion related to a lawsuit filed by parents and guardians of Illinois public school children.
