Last season, it took five games for the Coal City football team to surrender 40 total points. This year, it took just under 12 minutes as Morris scored 42 points in the first quarter and rolled to a 49-10 victory in the season opener between the two rivals Friday in Morris.
"Their size and speed was well documented. We knew that going in so it kind of lived up to it," said Coal City head coach Francis Loughran. "We had some younger guys trying to step up into the varsity role and it's a big jump from sophomore ball to varsity football."
